Today’s Rune…

Today’s rune is Jera.

A few notable and interesting things about this rune that I noticed right away. It is the rune that follows Isa in the Second Aett of the Elder Futhark. In relation to Isa, Jera is a rune of change, cycles and growth and breaks up the ice that is brought with Isa by bringing the growth and turning of the wheel with spring. It is a rune that, coming after a rune of ice and stagnation, reminds us that there will be storms and there will be complications and stagnation but these things are never permanent and life always has it’s ups and downs and balance.

For today I didn’t just pull a rune with no focus; today I decided to focus on my big project for the day which is to complete my Third Degree Entrance Assessment for Sacred Mists. Over the last month I’ve been working away at this and have only a few bits left to complete and if I can stay on track I’ll have it finished today. I am confident that I’ll be accepted into Third Degree but I was curious to know rune I might pull and what it might tell me in relation to this specific aspect of life right now. I guess it’s a good sign to have pulled to rune of the good year and harvest!

So the successful harvest and reaping of ones rewards. Jera brings change but it’s a positive and enjoyable change. Certainly Third Degree is going to bring a lot of change and lot of work. I find that fact that Jera is one of four runes that deal with cycles interesting and the fact that is one of the ones that deals with a specifically timed cycle, in this case a one-year cycle. I HIGHLY doubt I will be completing Third Degree in a single year! I’m not nearly arrogant enough to think that will happen, but I’m seeing this more as an indication that this coming year, the first one-year cycle of Third Degree, being a huge time of growth, change and transformation.

My overall interpretation of this rune with regards to my “question” then leads me to see that entering Third Degree will be both a reward and the beginning of a new cycle of growth and change. The first year is going to be a big one and probably the hardest but it’s going to bring a lot of great reward and benefit. This is the right path with regards to this Mists and what I should be doing and this just shows that it’s going to come with all the rewards and harvest that I have hoped for with all the work I’ve been doing.
