Daily Reflections Return!

So a while back I had posted talking about my frustration with the tools I’d been using for the daily reflective posts I had been doing and I was looking to get some feedback for some suggestions for other sources to use. The whole purpose of my using an oracle deck, runes, etc is to give not only some divinely presented information but to also create some ideas for subjects to talk about. Basically the way I see it is that each day one of these cards presents an idea that my Guides feel I need to explore and share. I enjoy doing it but to be honest I’m not real keen on pulling topics out of thin air. So I had been working with the Goddess Guidance cards but found almost all of Doreen Virtue’s descriptions and histories for the Goddesses, especially the darker ones, to be quite new-agey and fluffy (which if you go back and read the later posts I did with it you’ll quickly see I was dealing with a lot of frustration with those cards). But, I have decided to work with something else that will take care of these problems. (Just as a caveat to all of that, I do use her various angel decks in my angel healing and therapy work and I do love those; I think this is just a case of someone needing to stick to what they know best, in this case Virtue and angels works far better than Virtue and Goddesses.)

I had been avoiding working with tarot for a few reasons. First, there are so many tarot blogs out there already (like this one, and this one, Leisa ReFalo’s site and Mary K. Greer’s site). Second, tarot, in my opinion, can be so subjective. While there are certainly a lot of standards within the cards, the meanings, the representations, etc, there is a lot of personal interpretation, intuition and personal psychic takes on the cards. But as a tarot reader and someone that loves working with the cards, I knew deep down that I would eventually find myself coming back to them in the end. I’ve decided though, while giving in to the inevitable, that I needed to find a deck that I could get a special twist with. And in comes one of my favorite tarot artists, Lisa Hunt.

A handful of months ago Lisa Hunt’s latest (and most likely last) tarot deck “The Fairy Tale Tarot” was released after a great deal of anticipation. I got the deck immediately and was, as always, very taken by the art, but the thing that got me the most was the overall system with the cards. Each card relates back to a different fairy tale from around the world. Many of the stories are stories I’ve never heard but discovering them through these cards was a wonderful introduction. The way that some of them relate back to the cards themselves and the more traditional meanings of the tarot was also a wonderful discovery. It’s a deck that I highly recommend, even if you don’t actually read with them in a traditional sense but use for meditation or just because of Lisa’s amazing art. Everyone should have this one.

So I’m going to start working with these cards to create a daily post reflective post. I think that everyone is going to find them interesting and enjoyable as part of the blog and part of your every day! And I really encourage everyone to share their thoughts on them. It would be great to share the experience with these amazing cards.

Look for the first post later on Thursday!

I look forward to daily posts with these cards. I’ve been trying to get back in touch with the cards lately so I think this may be helpful.
