I got an interesting question from a reader name Dan and while I’d love to be able to give Dan some great answers and help with his questions, I don’t know that I really have an answer for him! So check out his question and my response and feel free to comment with your thoughts as well if you think you might have more help to offer! I know some of you out there may be more versed in the use of bones and other animal material in spell work and can give some possible answers to Dan’s question.
A few years ago, I was in the process of moving to a new location to accept a job. Some time during this period, I found a scattering of bones on the first landing of the outdoor steps that led to my door (someone had to climb a flight of stairs and deliberately place them). I know two or three women who are involved to some degree with witchcraft. The bones were pork bones, as I found the wrapper discarded on the driveway, and I could not tell if there was some specific arrangement of the bones. Does this sound like a spell or curse of any kind that you are aware of?

I wish I could give you some specific answers about your situation and what you found on your doorsteps, but not knowing more about the way they were laid out it’s hard to say. Bones are used in different magickal practices for different things. Some use them for revenge spells, others specifically for necromancy to call on certain spirits to come and cause trouble to an individual. Your specific situation, not knowing more about the state of the bones at the time you found then and then any issues or problems that you might have had that you think could have been connected to this makes it hard to say what it could have been. Do people do thinks like place bones in someone’s path (like in the doorways or on a front door step) in order to have some magickal effect? Sure. But it’s hard to say if that was the intention or purpose of your specific situation.

my instinct is saying, cat, not human, being that the wrapper was found in the ally way, i suspect that a cat or other meat eating type mammal was responsible for leaving bones outside your door. but then i have a tendency to think practically first, when it comes to these sorts of things. the vision that i have in my head is thus, a cat, i presume it is an ally cat somewhat feral, has found himself or pinched a parcel of wrapped pork chops? or pork roast? maybe a ham hock, (hammed pork bones) and run of with it. as the cat was breaking into the package in the ally along came, a car? a human? another hungry cat? so cat with the pork chop looked for a better place to eat with out the risk of it being taken from him. the guys porch, or landing outside his back door looked pretty high, assessable, and a safe place to eat. thus cat chowed down on pork chop, and left bones.
so things to look for,, was the meat cooked or raw, was the bones a ham hock, which is offten used in making soup, and sold an butcher type places.. where the bones stinky, cause if so they may of been wrapped and put in a trash can in the ally way and the cat then jumped in and got them.. with the rest of his adventure above.. (you know i wanna call the cat pork chop now right?)
i do not know of any spells of revenge that require bones being placed in front of anyone's door, but then i am a witch, so there might be one in a different tradition.
but my instinct is that this is cat brought bones, and not human place revenge ones.

Yes, I think the idea of a feral cat or other animal getting into something could be a viable possibility. So we'll have to see if we hear any more about what happened from Dan.
As for using bones for revenge and other sorts of spells you find this in some work within hoodoo, Voodoo and Santeria. It depends on the tradition and whatnot and different practitioners will have different uses for them (at least this has been my experience with things like this).

Hi everyone,
I also found bones(chicken and possibly cow bones?) , black glove, 2 boxes of empty oatmeal boxes(they look like they are 50 years old or more…)some paper and rat ,mice poison hidden under the staircase(in the basement).Everything was hidden well(covered with sheetrock) and had to be sitting there for decades….Any idea what is the meaning????
