A Brief Wicca/Witchcraft Documentary

I came across a really great little video this evening on Vimeo by two students who were working on putting together a video for a public affairs class. It’s called “Wicca What: Witch Documentary” and is a little under 5 minutes in length but has some great little sound bits. In it Christian Day, who you may know from Hex in Salem or the soon to open Omen in Salem (opening this weekend, by the way), or his BlogTalkRadio show Hex Education, makes some excellent points (as he often does) about disarming people with humor as a way to deal with prejudice towards Witches.

Here is the video; and please feel free to comment on what you think. How do you handle prejudice from those outside of the Wiccan/Pagan/Witch community?

And if you would like to help with the issue of discrimination towards Wiccans, Witches and Pagans, please consider joining my Cause on Facebook to help raise money for Covenant of the Goddess to go towards education to the greater community and for aid to help those dealing with religious discrimination issues.

Does anyone know of longer documentaries similar to this one? I’d love to see this as a full length (or at least an hour long) production.

    • MM Lorelle,

I thought I had a few others posted but they may have been at the previous blog location and gotten lost in the process of switch over servers last year so I will repost one of the others that I had up. There is a post here that has two small documentaries (I think they’re both just under an hour) that look at Salem Witches and history.

I’ll get some others (at least one more) up shortly. :)

      Blessings,

Excellent coverage, but I too would like to see something more in-depth, with more coverage from a wider spectrum of Witches.

    • I would like to see some more in depth ones as well. This one was just a school project that someone did but it was nice little piece for being something like it it was. There are a handful of documentaries up on Youtube. I have a post up <a href-"http://onewitchsway.com/2010/04/the-real-witch-project/" rel="nofollow">here for one called "The Real Witch Project" which is nice but somewhat generic. There are some older television documentaries like "In Serach of" and one that Lifetime did in the 90s that has interviews with different Pagan women like Z.Budapest and Janet Farrar. It would be great to have some current, modern day documentaries or television specials about various different Pagan traditions and practices. Most of what seems to pop up is focused on one specific path or tradition and almost always seems to dedicate more time than needed to comparisons to Satanism.

But that's just my opinion. :)
