I wanted to take a moment to again thank all the people that chimed in with some thoughts about the upcoming tarot class that I have been working on. I have taken the suggestions and comments of those on the blog, Facebook and those who have emailed me personally and have come up with something that I think is going to be a really great eight week program to get you really moving along with reading the cards for not only yourself but other people as well while also giving you a chance to get a different perspective on learning, reading and working with tarot. Working with tarot shouldn’t be a chore and reading for other people shouldn’t be stressful, but I see it being that for many people and this is what I want to help alleviate through this class. I want everyone that walks away from this class to feel confident in reading for other people as well as themselves and feel as though they have the skills and confidence to work with tarot and enjoy it at the same time. There’s no point in doing something you don’t like!
As I’m still working on the lessons I can only give you a very brief idea of what will be covered in these eight weeks. My goal is to have all the lessons written by the end of August, giving me time to review in anticipation of a September 27th launch date. When I have the lessons complete I’ll be sending out an official class breakdown but this can give you an idea of what to expect in the meantime.
Week 1 – A brief review of tarot history, comparing tarot to other forms of divination and why we might use tarot, discussions on different types of decks, how to pick a deck, how to cleanse and prepare your deck, discussion on intention and tarot reading.
Week 2 - A review of the major arcana cards, the symbols in the majors and the structure of the majors, looking at creating one or two keywords for the cards, learning about tarot journaling.
Week 3 – A review of the minor arcana cards, the symbols in the minors and the structure of the minors, creating one or two keywords for each card, looking at card pairings.
Week 4 – A review of the court cards, learning how to read them as personalities as well as energies, creating keywords and personalities for the court cards.
Week 5 – Learning to see the bigger picture when looking at the cards through symbols, colors, associations and numerology, learning to work more with your clair-senses.
Week 6 – Working with tarot spreads, learning how to create the best questions for a spread and how to create spreads from your questions, learning to read with large spreads such as chakra spreads and wheel spreads.
Week 7 – Ethics of tarot reading, focusing on how to perform a professional level reading for another person, discussing different possible scenarios that you may encounter when reading for someone else and how to work with them, learning to know and accept your limits.
Week 8 – Looking at working with tarot for other things outside of just divination such as meditation, spell work, altar work, and affirmations.
This class is going to really focus on the follow key elements:
1. Teaching you to read without referring to a book.
2. Giving you the confidence to create and work with your own set of card associations.
3. Having you performing readings for another person starting on week two. Yes, you read that right, you’ll be performing readings for someone different every week starting on the second week of the class right through to the end. This is how you’ll learning to build that confidence and trust in yourself and your abilities.
In the class you will get:
1. A private community forum where the class will be conducted. Everything will be done online through videos, live chat, forum discussion, and weekly PDF lessons.
2. Each week you’ll receive your PDF lesson and assignments on a Monday to read and review and then you’ll be paired up with a classmate to be your working partner for the week for readings and other assignments. All readings and assignments will be due in time for the next class.
3. Video lessons will be provided to expand on discussion and also demonstrate spreads and techniques.
4. Weekly chat sessions (possibly live audio chat as well as regular text chat) will be held to discuss lessons, answer questions and practice the week’s material.
5. At the end of the class you will receive a certificate of completion (through email).
I know the big question has been about the cost. I am still working on this because I want to offer some options for those that can’t afford to pay a lump sum. The anticipated cost of the class will be $100 for the full eight weeks and includes everything involved with the class. You would need to supply for yourself a tarot deck (picked after the first week) and a notebook or journal. I am anticipating offering the following options:
1. Pay in full at the time of registering. (Full payment of $100.)
2. Arrange to pay in two installments, one at registration and a second payment on week 4. (Two payments of $50.)
All payments will need to be made through PayPal. I will be more than happy to discussion other options with those seriously interested in this class who cannot work either of these options. Each session of this class will be limited to 12 students in order to ensure that each student get’s the needed time and attention to complete the class successfully and to feel as though they have truly gotten their monies worth. As someone who has taken a number of online magickal and spiritual classes in the past and dealt with classes so big that it’s impossible to ever have a one on one discussion with an instructor, I flat out refuse to do that within my classes.
So that is the low-down so far. I am working on the lessons, building a community site, and I should have an official announcement with open registration around the first week of September. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to ask! Just post in the comments or, if you’d prefer, drop me an email. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions.

I am sooooo excited about this class!!! I truly want to learn and think the cost you have sat is more than reasonable. As well, I will keep up to date with your blog because I want to be in the first class. I look forward to the teaching and getting to know you. I do have one question though. Is Rowan your birth name or your name you have chosen? It really doesn't matter, but I always said if I ever had another daughter I would name her Rowan…after the Mayfair Witches. Blessed Be ~ Angie (onreeone)
I'm looking forward to having you class! I think it's going to be a great class for both people with some experience and those that are brand new to the tarot. I hope to have a nice mix of people in the class because it will produce some interesting discussions I'm sure.
My name is not my birth name but a name I discovered for myself a good number of years ago now. It's a name that carries a lot of great energy and when it came to me it came at the perfect time really. The transition from a previous magickal name to this one proved to change a lot of things on my path, all for the better.
