Pre-registration is open for “It’s In The Cards”
Aug 16th
Over the last few weeks I have been working away at setting up the One Witch’s Way Circle, our new online community that will be connected to the blog. As I detailed in a post last week, the Circle network will serve as a home for upcoming classes, workshops, live chats, live readings and much more. It’s a free network to join, allowing you to connect to others of the magickal mindset, and giving you a chance to connect with others even if you aren’t planning on taking a class right away. There are going to be a number of great opportunities popping up through the Circle including the chance for those who may be interested in teaching a class themselves a chance to do so without all the hassle that comes with the set up! So for the cost of nothing you have the chance to learn and connect with others and be some of the first to hear about new classes and other special events coming up. And if you are considering taking my upcoming 8 week tarot class “It’s In The Cards”, you’ll need to sign up for the Circle since this is where the class will take place. But sign up now and you’ll have the chance to pre-register and reserve a spot before the class fills up!
Come to One Witch’s Way Circle, sign up for free, and then be sure to go and read the details on how to pre-register for the tarot class and sign up today! In 3-4 weeks when open registration begins those who have pre-registered will get first dibs at the 12 open spots for the class. Spots are being taken already so don’t hesitate! This class wont be happening again until after the beginning of 2011, so join today!
Announcing the One Witch’s Way Circle
Aug 13th
Over the last few weeks I have been working on putting together a social networking space that will also work as a school space for the upcoming tarot class and other classes and workshops that I’ll be putting together. The site is free to join and open to anyone. The class areas, which will be expanding and growing over the rest of the year, are private and only open to those people who enroll in those classes. There will be opportunities in the future for people who become involved in the community to also teach classes as the structure of the network and the school aspect of it grows. The idea is to create a space for people interested in the Craft, magick, the occult, tarot and other aspects of the metaphysical to come together and share, get to know one another and grow a community that offers the opportunity for people to learn and develop their skills, knowledge, and abilities.
I have been working to add content to the site but it is still pretty sparse but areas for discussions, some groups and a number of forum areas are open. Once you join you can create groups, add videos and music, start and join in discussions, and create your own blog and profile page. The will be contests coming up in the future for participating members and special offers for readings, classes, healing sessions, and info on my magickal oils, incense and spell kits that are going to be coming later in the fall. This will be a great time to get involved in the Circle so that you can be part of things as they develop!
So come by, check it out and join for free. Be sure to invite your friends, share the news with others and help me in growing what is sure to be a wonderful magickal community.
Interested in sending your kids to summer school?
Jul 13th
Well, if you’re in the Grovetown, GA area you can send your kids to a Pagan summer school program during the week of July 26th to the 30th. And the price is certainly right since it’s FREE! No specific ages are listed but the activities listed range in skill and interest to where there seems to be something for everyone of all ages; circle casting, wand making, discussions on the Wheel of the Year and the Gods, and other magickal crafts are a few of the things listed in the posting on WitchVox. This is being taught by volunteers in the local Pagan community and between 9am and noon for the five days with a graduation ceremony on the last day. All registrations need to be in by July 21st and more volunteers are needed as well. If you’d like to get more details you can take a look at the listing located on WitchVox by clicking here, or you can contact Sherlin Levandoski by email.
Have you been to the Teahouse?
Mar 23rd
A handful of years ago, when Ning was a fairly new thing and people were just getting their hands on easy ways to create social networks, I found myself involved in a site on the network helping as an admin. Unfortunately I found that I had some really big problems with the founder of the site with regards to his ethics and his intentions behind creating the site, so I decided to start my own site. The Pagan Teahouse was born, and it thrived for some time! Then, through a series of personal events and then the fact that everyone under the sun started a Ning site, activity died off. Then PaganSpace.net was born and most of the smaller sites on the network starting to die off.
I was never really worried about that stuff. I wasn’t trying to compete with anyone else’s site but I was personally finding it hard to run a site like that on my own. So I enlisted the help of a few people, then moved the site off of Ning and hosted it on a message board type site for a while. Most people didn’t like the switch and felt a lot of bits and pieces that made them enjoy the site before were like big gaping holes (things like profiles, messaging, MP3 sharing, blogs, etc). At the time before the move I had been paying for the premium services and spending around $40 a month to maintain those things with the site, but with the lack of participation it didn’t seem worth it anymore. So the Teahouse went back to Ning just so it wouldn’t completely die and instead it just sort of floundered for a while.
Well, here we are, spring again. A time for renewal and revitalization. I have been dealing with some personal struggles lately about where I need to be focusing my time and energy. Anyone that knows me knows two very big things about me; I am a knowledge junkie who is always taking classes and studying something and that free time to me is like kryptonite to Superman. It’s certainly not that I don’t have free time, but I like to know that the time I am working on something it’s a project or endeavor that I really want to be doing. So I popped over the the very inactive and unkempt Teahouse on Monday morning and decided it was time to bring this energy of spring to the Teahouse and breath some life into it once again.
If you haven’t visited us before, please come by! We’re a free site (and always will be) and have a number of great community features. I’m going to be creating some new groups and clubs in the Teahouse over the next few weeks, along with getting the forums back in order and changing around the look of things just to make things easy to find and use. We have a chat area where we’re also be holding some live events in the future and I’m going to bring back The School of Shadows and Light, a magickal “school”, so to speak, that we had several years ago. The School area was not aimed at teaching any specific traditions of Wicca, Paganism or magick, but instead was a place where we had weekly lessons in magickal practice for those that were either new or looking for a little brush up on the basics. It was my plan then, and will be my plan this time, that once we go through the initial material for the class we’ll go deeper into the aspects of magickal practice, all the while making each member of the group part of the process of where it will go next. When we did this before there was a constant “what do you want to learn next” area and I was always looking for feedback and suggestions from those that were participating in the lessons.
So stop by, create an account, and join us!
Pagan Edge – a new pagan magazine
Nov 15th
It looks like there is a new Pagan magazine in the works that will see it’s first issue active in online form December 26th. Pagan Edge, an online and print on demand publication, has it’s sights set on being a timely publication for the Pagan community focused on Pagan news, lifestyle and culture. There may be information on spells, magick, rituals and other “how-to” type articles within it’s virtual pages, but the focus will be on how Pagans and those of the earth-based spiritual mindset can put their values and beliefs to work for them in their everyday lives.
Currently Pagan Edge is looking for submissions from writers that are interested in creating articles that go beyond the realms of Paganism 101 and address the adult Pagan community in an intelligent and passionate way. Prospective contributers are asked to submit a 300 word witting sample with a short bio and list of topics they are interested in writing about. Artists are also encouraged to submit art samples if they are interested in working with Pagan Edge on the graphics end. More details can be found here for those interested.
The following is a list of upcoming issue themes that may inspire some when it comes to submissions.
- January – cleansing (Cleaning House Issue – mental house, spiritual house, physical living spaces (neat, minimal, green?)
- February – love (Challenges, How to deal with the negative, bringing good into your life in a positive manner)
- March – beginnings (Everything form new life {birth}, jobs, outlooks, wardrobe, etc.)
- April – living greener (gardening, lifestyle, outdoors, green energy, green alternatives)
It’s important to keep in mind that this is a homegrown, grass-roots project for the Pagan community and as such they are working without much of a budget. Contributers will not be paid for their submissions however they will gain exposure for their work and will gain some wonderful experience and references for the future.
If this sounds like something that you would like to talk to them about you can contact Pagan Edge at chief-editor@paganedge.com.

Loreena McKennitt To Release Limited Edition CD This Fall
Sep 24th
I received an email today from Loreena McKennitt’s newsletter announcing the anticipated release of “A Mediterranean Odyssey” this fall. This will be a limited edition, two disc, commemorative set of live and previously released tracks. The first disc, “From Istanbul to Athens” will consist of live tracks from the 2009 Mediterranean Tour which will include some never before live recordings of some of Loreena’s music (which tracks these will be is yet to be known as no track lists have been announced). The second disc, “The Olive and the Cedar” will all be previously released tracks that follow a Mediterranean theme. This disc consists of tracks hand picked by Loreena and will consist of previous studio recordings of songs from between 1994 and 2006.
Quinlan Road, Loreena’s record label and online shop, has announced that there will be a deluxe edition and a budget edition of the set as well as the usual MP3 downloads from iTunes and the Quinlan Road site. There didn’t seem to be a specific differentiation made between the two sets though the discs are said to be contained in “richly designed slip cases” and the live disc will be accompanied by a 24 page “lavishly illustrated booklet” of photos from the 2009 tour.
There is no release date as of yet, just that it will be out in soon. Quinlan Road Community members will have the opportunity at a pre-sale of the set before sales are made to the general public. If you’re not part of the community go here now to sign up to keep track of the upcoming release and get your pre-order when you can.
Where Have The Pagan Podcasters Gone?
Aug 12th
Is it me or does it seem like the faces of Pagan Podcasting have changed quite a bit lately. Some of the best podcasts have fallen to the wayside; one of the biggest changes came early this year when Deo and Mandy from Deo’s Shadow announced that they would be stopping their highly popular show Deo’s Shadow because of both time constraints and because the two had decided that they were no longer going to be following a Pagan path and were turning more toward Atheism. Other popular shows have become scarce including The Crooked Path (who’s website no longer seems to work and there seems to be no trace of the show since early this year) and Lance and Graal (their website now takes you to a vitamins and supplements site). So what’s going on?
One place that you will find a lot of Wiccan and Pagan podcasts moving to is BlogTalkRadio (BTR). One of the reasons that BTR has become so popular is that it allows a level of interaction between the show hosts and the listeners that more traditional podcasts don’t have . With BTR a show host can have a show on the air, live and then laster available as a podcast on iTunes, for no money at all or they can purchase premium services for between $40 and $100 allowing a great deal of freedom with managing a program. BTR shows provide the host with a call in number and small switchboard system where they can call in to host their show via any phone (landlines, cell, or even Skype) and then a call in number for listeners to be able to call and be on the air as part of the show. Each show also gets it’s own chat room during the live show as well allowing listeners to interact with one another as well.
More and more budding Pagan Podcasters seem to be starting shows on BTR. I think that between the type of show that BTR allows someone to create and the fact that anyone can create and host a show without having the have any special equipment or any real knowledge of recording or even really any heavy computer skills, it seems that we’re seeing a new way of media coming in to get our messages and ideas out there while reaching Pagans all across the globe.
So who is out there? Here is a list of Pagan Podcasting shows that are still showing active sites and shows. Feel free to add others in the comments if you have some active favorites that aren’t here. And be sure to check out the Occult, Paranormal, Psychic, Wiccan and Pagan listings on the BTR site and find a show to listen to and participate in!
